After testing it out in The Fountain, Rachel Weisz may have a chance to venture up to space again. Latino Review is reporting that she is being considered to take over the role that Angelina Jolie declined (twice). It is the lead role of Ryan in Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity.

As expected, many other actresses have tested for the part but this could be a step in lowering the budget of what seems like an epic film. We reported yesterday that Cuarón may plan to shoot the film in a single shot (stitched by CG). Weisz, or whoever gets the lead, would be the sole character on screen for a majority of the film.

With The Brothers Bloom, The Fountain and The Constant Gardner, Rachel Weisz is consistently growing to be one of my favorite actresses. I’d love to see her get the part, especially paired next to Robert Downey Jr.

Do you think Weisz could lead an entire space epic?
