The Hangover surprised audiences and studios alike this summer, raking in over $450 million worldwide on a $35 million budget. We already reported two months before the film came out Warner Brothers ordered a sequel. Since then, writer and director Todd Phillips has been working hard on the script for the new film. Recently he spoke with EW in which he confirmed Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis will all be coming back and that they are moving out out of Vegas. Check out his quote below:

What people loved about The Hangover was not Las Vegas or the bachelor party but these three characters. I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don’t need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff.

I thought The Hangover was quite a fun comedy, mostly due to the performance. I’m glad everyone will be back in the sequel and it looks like Phillips knows he has to change things up in terms of story and setting so that gives me hope. Todd Phillips‘ next film will be Due Date, starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, and Jaime Foxx. The flim just wrapped on November 26th and is looking at a November 5th, 2010 release date. The Hangover 2 has a tentative release date of summer 2011.

Do you want to see a sequel to The Hangover? Where could they go from here?
