Update: Michael Caine has, obviously, joined the cast as well, according to Deadline. See the original story below.

After a spree of roles, from The Tree of Life to Zero Dark Thirty, Jessica Chastain is now weighing her options a little more carefully, being one of the most sought-after actresses in Hollywood. Before jumping back into horror with Guillermo del Toro‘s Crimson Peak next year, she’s now eying her next role and it’s easily her biggest one yet.

According to Deadline, the actress is set to join Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway in Christopher Nolan‘s Interstellar. With the two aforementioned actors taking the top leads, Chastain will take the third lead role if negotiations go through.

Little is known about Nolan’s next film, but it’s been revealed that the story “depicts a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest borders of our scientific understanding.” It is described as a “complex and multi-layered” sci-fi picture that follows “explorers [who] travel through a wormhole,” with conceits such as alternate dimensions and time travel working their way in.

Shooting, with the help of cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, will commence this summer for a November 7th, 2014 release.

Are you looking forward to seeing this trio star in Nolan’s next film?
