One of the most promising films of the fall is Robert Zemeckis‘ World War II drama Allied. Seemingly set apart from the more technology-focused features he’s done as of late, this looks to be a straight-up thriller with romantic touches as we follow Brad Pitt, who plays an intelligence offer who encounters a French Resistance fighter (Marion Cotillard) and falls in love before things soon turn deadly.
“Brad and Marion immediately had the utmost respect for each other, so once they delved into their characters, their chemistry was electric,” producer Graham King tells People, who debuted the first still. “It was crucial for Brad and Marion to not only begin rehearsing together before the shoot, but they also spent a lot of time developing their characters with the director. By the time we got to set, it was really amazing to see these characters already feel lived in and real.”
As we await the first trailer, check out the image below from the film also starring Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Goode:
Allied opens on November 23.
