Coming off what will very soon be the biggest hit in his extensive career Midnight in Paris, prolific writer/director Woody Allen is already shooting his next feature Bop Decameron in Italy. The “a broad comedy” stars Allen himself, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page and Alison Pill, but details have been somewhat scarce. We know the film is divided into four separate vignettes. One featuring Allen “focuses on an American couple travelling to Italy to meet the family of their daughter’s fiance.”
We’ve gotten a few more details from Adnkronos, stating Benigni “plays a man called Leopoldo, a man mistaken for a star” and it has a homage to Federico Fellini‘s La Dolce Vita at Via Veneto. Baldwin will play John, “an architect from California visiting some places with his friends.” We’ve also got some set pics featuring Cruz in some lingerie, but we don’t know how she fits into the plot just yet. Check a few out below (click for hi-res) and the rest on Awards Daily and Republica.
Expect a 2012 spring release for Bop Decameron, after a likely Cannes premiere.
