After the success of The Other Guys, this feels about right. Wahlberg has spent the last few years of his career branching out this way and that, to varying degrees of success (the aforementioned comedy with Will Ferrell a modest success, his producing turn, including Entourage and The Fighter, a soaring success) and failure (dramatic turns in The Happening and The Lovely Bones exposed his thespian limitations).

Meanwhile, Mr. Hill is starting to make the same turn, only in the opposite direction, with a sports drama (Moneyball) and an action flick (21 Jump Street) in post. The duo is set to star in Good Time Gang, an independent film going through company RCR Pictures. The film concerns two party-hard guns-for-hire who take on a terrorist, then realize that one of them is related to the baddie. The word is its Lethal Weapon with less one-liners and more gun fights [L.A. Times].

The script comes courtesy of Max Landis (John’s son), who’s also got the superhero project Chronicle set up at Fox. There’s no director attached as of yet.
