Jeremy Renner has been having job offers left and right due to the success of The Hurt Locker including an Edgar Allen Poe mystery and Paul Thomas Anderson‘s follow up to There Will Be Blood, The Master. The movie already has PTA regular Phillip Seymour Hoffman and now it seems the role opposite is now vacant.

However, with news of Taylor Kitsch taking Renner’s place on Battleship, it was revealed that he may not take the role in ‘Master’. The initial report has confused several news sources but apparently Renner could not do both this and ‘Battleship’ due to scheduling conflicts so he passed on the sea warfare picture. Yet, this still doesn’t mean he’s going to join ‘Master’. His intentions are still not clear on the film, which is still expected to shoot this summer.
