With a few months left to go until the end of the year, there’s still a handful of major films yet to premiere, including The Revenant, The Hateful Eight, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Concussion, The Big Short, as well as Joy, the latest film from David O. Russell. Following Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, Jennifer LawrenceBradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro all reteam with the director and today brings a new trailer.

The story follows a housewife-turned-millionaire who made that unusual transition through fittingly unusual means — creating a piece of housecleaning equipment — although the story extends far beyond that. One can never truly trust test screenings, but we’ve heard some fairly positive things from this one in the last couple of weeks, so hopefully it’s an improvement from the Russell’s stale last feature. Also starring Édgar Ramírez, Elisabeth Röhm, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen, check out the trailer below.

JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love.
