Legendary actor Anthony Hopkins is in talks for the upcoming Arabian Nights remake, Firstshowing is reporting. If successful he would join Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song) on the project.
The original from 1942 follows Hemsworth’s character, as he joins the fabled heroes Sinbad, Ali Baba, and the Genie on their quest to rescue their queen. Hopkins will play Pharotu, the villain of the tale.
Chuck Russell will direct the piece. After his work with The Scorpion King I don’t expect much, but certainly Hopkins’ involvement won’t hurt things. Russell penned the script, along with Barry P. Ambrose.
