While The Hunger Games seems to currently rule the YA world, another contender is entering the ring this fall with The Maze Runner. Based on James Dashner‘s bestselling series, it looks like perhaps the most promising entry into the genre with a strong mix of thrills and camaraderie (and, thankfully, light on romantic subplots), and today a new trailer has landed.
Coming from Wes Ball, an acclaimed commercials director and VFX artist making his debut, the plot reads as follows: “When Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape.” Check out the new trailer below for the film also starring Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter and Aml Ameen.
The Maze Runner opens on September 19th.
