Following his extraordinary, labored Turkish drama Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, director Nuri Bilge Ceylan is back with not only one of our most-anticipated films of the Cannes Film Festival line-up, but of the year as well. Debuting this month at cinema’s finest yearly event is Winter Sleep, a drama clocking in at 3 hours and 16 minutes, and today, we have the first glimpse at footage with the debut trailer.
While subtitles aren’t available yet, it looks to pack more unforgettable imagery and drama as we follow Aydin, a retired actor who holds a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal, which he is emotionally distant from. His sister Necla is still suffering from her recent divorce. Starring Haluk Bilginer, Melisa Sözen, and Demet Akbag, one can check out the preview below, as well as a batch of stills and the first poster.
Is Winter Sleep among your most-anticipated of the line-up?
