It all looks a bit recycled, from the father-son plot point to period piece battle scenes to the whole beautiful movie-star-dressing-down-so-it-all-feels-more-real thing that Cate Blanchett’s doing.

All that said, it’s still directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Blanchett, written by super-screenwriter Brian Helgeland.
So there’s hope still.
