Dreamworks‘ 3D endeavor How To Train Your Dragon ended the three week box office reign of Tim Burton‘s Alice In Wonderland. Grossing $43.3 million dollars in its opening weekend, the film has garnered only positive reviews, despite falling well short of Dreamworks’ opening weekend benchmark.

Alice In Wonderland dropped almost 50%, bringing in $17.3 million in its fourth weekend, to bring its total $293.1 million. It finished ahead of another debut; Hot Tub Time Machine opened in the third spot, bringing director Steve Pink $13.6 million for the flick’s opening weekend.

Elsewhere, Green Zone continued its subpar performance. In its third weekend, the Iraq War action piece drew in only $3.3 million, bringing its lackluster total to $30.4 million.

Avatar spent its first weekend out of the top ten, finishing eleventh. James Cameron‘s cash cow seems to be rolling to a halt, bringing in $2 million in its 15th week. It has now grossed $740 million domestically.
