Oh no. Or maybe not. As reported by the guys over at Get The Big Picture, the incredible Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In, directed by Tomas Alfredson, will be remade in the states by Overture Films, and Matt Reeves,  J.J. Abrams collaborator and director of the very good Cloverfield, is set to direct.

Bloody Disgusting reports that they have, however, unfortunately changed the film’s title to Let Me In. Shooting is set to begin in May.

Let the Right One In was on both mine and my Film Stage counterpart Jordan’s Top Movies of 2008 List, a beautifully disturbing piece of filmmaking that rivals any other vampire film ever made, a film that has stayed with me ever since seeing it months ago. It literally haunts my dreams.

A remake was inevitable, so it is a blessing that Reeves, a man who knows how to scare and entertain, is helming it. After all, as you may have seen if you looked at those 2008 Movies lists more closely, Cloverfield also made both of our cuts as well. If you did not, look again. But is that overly bland and pandering title really necessary? Are Americans really that stupid?

Overture has set the film to release on January 15, 2010, literally three days before Cloverfield released in 2008. If it’s not broke…

Do you like the new title? Are you okay with this remake? Did you like the original film?
