How about a poster round-up for your lunch break? Today brings a wide range of posters from the next Pixar film to a Cannes debut to another Studio Ghibli film. We’ll take on the latter first, Studio Ghibli‘s next project Arrietty. It can be seen above and is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi with Will Arnett, Carol Burnett, and Amy Poehler providing voices for the US version. Arrietty will hit theaters next month in Japan and in early 2012 in the US. Check out the poster above via Bleeding Cool, and head over to their site for more variations.
Synopsis:
14-year-old Arrietty and the rest of the Clock family live in peaceful anonymity as they make their own home from items “borrowed” from the house’s human inhabitants. However, life changes for the Clocks when a human boy discovers Arrietty.
Next up we have a new poster for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, directed by Troy Nixey and produced & co-written by Guillermo del Toro. Starring Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison, it’s a remake of a 70′s TV horror film of the same name and will hit theaters this August. Check out the poster below via Empire.
Synopsis:
Introverted Sally Hurst has just moved in with her father Alex and his girlfriend Kim when she realizes that their sprawling estate holds its fair share of secrets. Ascending to the depths of the house, Sally gains access to a secret lower level that has lain undisturbed for nearly a century, when the original builder vanished without a trace. When Sally accidentally opens the gateway that kept the creatures locked up tight, she realizes that in order to prevent them from destroying her family is to convince her skeptical father than monsters really exist.
We also have the first poster for Pixar’s Brave, which will hopefully make for Cars 2. The original folktale features voices from Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, and Robbie Coltrane. It will hit theaters June 22nd, 2012 and you can see the poster below via Upcoming Pixar. There is also a teaser attached to Cars 2 this weekend.

“Brave” is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
Hitfix also has the poster for Dirty Girl, starring The Dark Knight Rises player Juno Temple. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, it will see a release August 5th, 2011 via The Weinstein Company.
Synopsis:
Set in the ’80s, Abe Sylvia’s “Dirty Girl” finds Temple playing Danielle, a rebellious, smoking, sexually active high schooler who befriends Clarke (newcomer Jeremy Dozier), a gay classmate who dreams of escaping the confines of their small town life and lacks her confident swagger. Danielle’s home life is miserable (at least in her eyes). She can’t deal with her mother (Milla Jovovich) or her mother’s intended husband to be (William H. Macy), so the pair take drastic action and hit the road running away for greener pastures (or so they think).
Lastly we have the French poster for the Cannes premiere This Must Be The Place, starring Sean Penn in drag. We weren’t a big fan of Paolo Sorrentino‘s drama, but you can see the poster below via IMPAwards.

“The Must Be the Place” concerns an aging rock star who decides to hunt down the Nazi criminal who ordered his father’s execution in a concentration camp.
