Despite all the behind-the-scenes turmoil when it comes to Paramount’s upcoming tentpole, it’s simply impressive that we’re getting a large-scale, big-budget zombie movie in the middle of the summer with World War Z. While it greatly differs from Max Brooks‘ fantastic novel, we’ve got a new trailer for the Marc Forster-directed film and it’s the first time that I’ve been intrigued at the possibilities here.

The CG has some noticeable improvement from our first trailer (even though the zombie hoards look a little too much like a videogame), but the studio smartly puts Pitt’s United Nations employee Gerry Lane character and his family struggles at the center. There’s also a neat setpiece at the end featuring an airplane zombie attack (where is Iron Man when you need him?). Hopefully this one comes together and you can see the new trailer and poster below for the film also starring Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse.

World War Z opens June 21st, 2013.
