UPDATE: We got word from the studio that the film is still title Casino Jack:
The domestic title of the film for the time being remains “Casino Jack”; “Bagman” is the title of the film for foreign territories only.
Check out our previous story below:
George Hickenlooper‘s new drama Bagman stars Kevin Spacey, Jon Lovitz and Barry Pepper. The film is scheduled to hit theatres in October and now thanks to The Playlist, we have a trailer for it. The film is about the lobbyist, Jack Abramoff and is not to be confused with Alex Gibney‘s recent documentary Casino Jack, which was also about Mr. Abramoff.
UPDATE: Trailer removed at the request of the studio.
Plot: A hot shot Washington DC lobbyist and his protégé go down hard as their schemes to peddle influence lead to corruption and murder.
The trailer looks decent. Spacey is usually a sure thing and I think depending on how they choose to portray Jack, it could be interesting. The film was originally named Casino Jack but was changed to avoid confusion with the recent documentary of the same name.
As for Bagman, I think Spacey will probably be the only good thing in an otherwise mediocre film but I’m not going to judge a book by its cover. We will have to wait until October.
What do you think of the trailer?
