Along with announcing plans to shoot his next film this summer, just a few hours ago we were promised a new trailer for Shane Carruth‘s Sundance-bound Upstream Color and like clockwork, it has now arrived. If you missed this morning’s article it dove into many aspects of the Primer follow-up, described as  “intense and hypnotically powerful,” as we follow a woman who is “abducted and seemingly brainwashed via an organic material harvested from a specific flower.”

While the latest trailer doesn’t directly reveal this thread, we are given more of the story, which finds our lead linking up with a man, played by Carruth, and they fall in love, only “they come to realize he may also have been subjected to the same process.” Even though it premieres in just a few days, we also got release news, as a short theatrical run (complete with pop-up screenings) will begin on April 5th in major cities, following a digital release. Check out the stunning trailer below and return for our take on the film from Park City.

Synopsis:

A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives.

Upstream Color premieres at Sundance Film Festival 2013 then hits theaters on April 5th, 2013.
