We’ll be bringing you a major fall 2013 preview in the coming weeks, but sitting atop our best films we’ve already seen rundown will be the Cannes Palme d’Or winner Blue Is the Warmest Color. Set to arrive on October 25th in the U.S., there’s been some controversy surrounding the fact that Abdellatif Kechiche‘s drama won’t be up for Oscars due to the French release date, but with that target approaching, we’ve now got the first trailer.
Starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux, in our review, we said one can see the “raw emotional power akin to the Dardenne brothers,” and “Kechiche’s direction is subdued yet penetrating, and it seems near-impossible not to be moved by both the joy and pain in Adele’s experience. Affecting and powerful in its portrayal of love, Blue is the Warmest Color is an epic ode to the enduring affection which overwhelms when we find that special someone.” The first trailer is NSFW thanks to a single shot and one can check it out below, as well as the first clips & poster if you missed them and the music video for Lykke Li‘s I Follow Rivers, which is featured in the trailer.
Update: Watch an English-subtitled version here.
