New Line Cinema and Warner Brothers have green-lighted a remake of the original Police Academy, according to /Film.  Neither a writer nor a director have been named, but original producer Paul Maslansky will have his hand in the mix.

The franchise, which consists of six movies and two TV shows, was rumored to be in the market for a sequel. However, it appears the next step will be a remake of the original.

Maslansky seems optimistic about the project, looking “to discover new talents and season it with great comedians.” I look forward to see who he brings in for this project.

Who would you like to see involved? Should this one be left alone?
