FRANCE-FILM-FESTIVAL-CANNES

After working with Quentin Tarantino, Michel Gondry, Roman Polanski, Terry Gilliam, and more, Christoph Waltz is taking his skills to the director’s chair. THR reports he’s set to make his directorial debut with The Worst Marriage in Georgetown, a crime drama he’ll also star in. Based on Franklin Foer‘s NY Times article, it’ll follow Waltz as Albrect Muth (Waltz), “an eccentric social climber who seduced and married a wealthy older widow” named Viola Drath. When she’s found murdered, his lies begin to unravel. Set to beign production this October, we expect a festival premiere next year.

Marking his first film in over a decade, Chicken Run and Wallace & Gromit director Nick Park will helm the stop-motion adventure Early Man, Variety reported today. The project will take place in a “dramatic prehistoric world when dinosaurs and wooly mammoths roamed the earth,” specifically following the story of “how a plucky caveman unites his tribe against a mighty enemy and saves the day.” Aiming to be released around the 2018 World Cup, we’ve got a long ways to go, but we’re looking forward to it.

dolph_lundgrenLastly, this passed by us initially, but Dolph Lundgren has confirmed his role in the Coens‘ 2016-bound Hail, Caesar!, joining Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Jonah Hill, Frances McDormand, Christopher Lambert, Scarlett Johansson, and more. Speaking to Creative Screenwriting (via /Film), check out his quote below.

It was a bit of a shocker. They called me out of nowhere a few months ago. It’s a movie set in the 1950s called Hail, Caesar! and it’s about the studio system. Basically, one of the characters is going to defect to the Soviet Union because he loves communism because they have great uniforms [Laughs]. That’s Channing Tatum’s character in the movie, and they wanted someone to play a submarine commander. I guess they wanted someone kind of iconic where the audience sees the person and says, “Holy shit!” [Laughs]. So I’m wearing a Russian fur hat and I’m on this huge submarine in Malibu. It was fun to work with them. They were very nice guys, and of course I’m a huge fan of theirs and I never expected to be in any Coen brothers movies, but I guess I am!

Which of the above projects are you most looking forward to?
