Last October we told you David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus) was to produce and possibly direct a new film in the Vacation series. The film would follow Rusty Griswold (son of Chevy Chase’s character) as a grownup and taking his own family a new adventure. Now, after the Superbowl short teaser, new details have emerged on the project, which will not be under the National Lampoon label. Variety is reporting that The New Adventures of Old Christine writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Dale have been hired to write the new film, which will indeed follow Rusty and his family to Wally World. Unlike the original, Wally World is now going to be closed forever. Understandably Rusty wants to travel with his family to experience the amusement park one last time. New Line and Warner Bros are interested in bringing Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo back as grandparents in the new film, but nothing has been signed yet.

I love the original, as well as Christmas Vacation, but like many others found the rest of the films in the series to be lacking. I have no problem with this reboot though and hopefully Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo can return.

What do you think of another Vacation film?
