It’s going to be a sad day for cinema when Woody Allen doesn’t announce his next film around the time his current one hits theaters. Even though the filmmaker deserves a break — likely moreso than anyone in Hollywood — he’s not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. Ahead of the release of the highly-anticipated Blue Jasmine, we got word that Colin Firth and Emma Stone have lined up lead roles in his next feature and now the rest of the ensemble has been uncovered.
According to The Wrap, Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Into the Wild), Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom, Stoker), Eileen Atkins (Cold Mountain, Gosford Park), Simon McBurney (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Last King of Scotland), Hamish Linklater (The Future, Battleship), Erica Leerhsen (Hollywood Ending) and Jeremy Shamos (Dedication) have all lined up undisclosed roles in the feature. Already filming in the south of France, expect a release next summer.
Following a batch of new stills for Allen’s latest, even more have arrived, which take us behind the scenes of the project. Jasmine finds Cate Blanchett’s character struggling through the final stages of an acute crisis as a fashionable New York housewife. Ahead of a July 26th release, check out the images above and below, also featuring Alec Baldwin, Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, Peter Sarsgaard, Sally Hawkins and more.
