With the script for Ironman 2 complete, Justin Theroux was open for a new job. Universal Pictures has decided to offer him the director position on a big studio gig. The project is currently titled Chief Ron and is Theroux’s first directing position other than the independent film “Dedication,” which premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. This new screenplay, written by Jordan Roberts, tells the comedy of a blonde haired blue eyed conman named Ron Roberts who claims Mohegan ancestry so that he can open an Indian casino.

The film is based off of the true story of Chief Ron Roberts who after much doubt and some DNA tests managed to win Mohegan ancestral rights and is currently building his casino in upstate New York. Expect some controversy to come into play though as the film production moves forward seeing as the real Ron Roberts will probably not be happy being conveyed as a con artist. Justin Theroux, pretty new to the industry, has also worked as a co-writer and executive proucer of the 2008 summer comedy Tropic Thunder.
