Update: The film will receive a spring 2015 U.S. release via GKIDS.

Considering how long it takes for Studio Ghibli’s work to arrive in the United States, it can be hard to keep track of exactly how many features the beloved animation house is producing. To catch up, Hayao Miyazaki‘s stunning swan song, The Wind Rises, hit wide release earlier this year, then at Cannes we reviewed The Tale of Princess Kaguya, which hasn’t hit U.S. theaters yet. Today now brings the first preview of their latest animation, When Marnie Was There.

Coming from director Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who last crafted the excellent adventure drama The Secret World of Arrietty, the project is an adaptation of Joan G. Robinson‘s novel, which tells a ghost story  of a lonely girl named Annie who meets her first friend in the mysterious Marnie. Featuring their first English-language theme song (Priscilla Ahn‘s Fine on the Outside), the first teaser is a beautiful, dreamlike preview of what’s to come. Check it out below, along with a pair of posters.
