With 30 Rock finished, Tina Fey is building a busy slate for 2014. We reported back in January that Fey had joined the cast of the new Muppets film and now the comedienne has entered talks to star in This is Where I Leave You for Warner Brothers. The film, based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, follows a non-religious, extremely dysfunctional family who sits Shivah (a seven-day sitting) at the request of their passing father to confront their problems together. This particular Shiva marks the first time the entire family will be in the same room for more than ten years.

Fey joins Jason Bateman, and will play a married daughter of the deceased patriarch whose first love is now suffering from brain damage. Her character is also the sister to Judd Foxman (Bateman). Shawn Levy (Real Steel, Date Night) helms and produces the comedy alongside Paula Weinstein for Warner Bros.

The script is being adapted for the big screen by the book’s author, Johnathan Tropper. While slated to begin production this June in New York, Levy has yet to cast the film’s romantic leading woman and the director/producer has some serious talent to choose from. Bateman has already read Ari Graynor, Isla Fischer, Zoe Saldana and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for the part. We will keep you posted when the casting decision is announced. Although no date has been set, This is Where I Leave You is eyeing a 2014 release.

Tina Fey, currently shooting The Muppets…Again! in Europe, and will next be seen staring opposite Paul Rudd in Paul Weitz‘s (Little Fockers) romantic-comedy Admission, which hits theaters on March 22nd. [THR]
