Read no further if you want to avoid spoilers for Christopher Nolan‘s mega-blockbuster. I knew it wasn’t true when the supposed “last casting announcement” for the film came just a few days ago. HitFix is exclusively reporting another role in the film, albeit a minor one.
They report that Batman Begins star Liam Neeson was on the set Monday as Ra’s al Ghul. They can’t confirm if the scene was a flashback or in the present timeline of the movie, but the actor was indeed filming scenes. I suppose that makes up for his cut The Hangover Part II cameo. WB declined to comment, but major scooper El Mayimbe of Latino Review also confirms the news.
As we previously know, The Social Network‘s hidden star Josh Pence plays a brief role as young Ra’s al Ghul. In that report, it said the scenes would “take place 30 years prior to the present story,” but we have no idea what it actually entails and how Neeson fits in. I hope it stays that way.
Neeson joins Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Josh Stewart and Chris Ellis.
The Dark Knight Rises hits IMAX theaters on July 20th, 2012.
What do you think of this cameo? How could it fit into the story?
