On Saturday, the Rapture was supposed to occur signaling the beginning of the Apocalypse. Perhaps you heard about it; if you have Twitter, you probably heard about it too much because of all the terribly unfunny jokes. Well, obviously nothing happened since we’re still here sinning away, but I bring to you news about a movie that’s going to make you wish the Rapture did occur.

ComingSoon reports that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the guys who have continually spit in the face of the spoof genre through out the 21st century, have lined up their next target: Avatar. Called The Biggest Movie of All-Time 3D, about as clever as Vampires Suck, a press release has come out to support the project. We normally don’t post complete press releases on here since that’s essentially fake reporting, but I feel like this needs to be done. Why? Because it’s so hilarious and so misguided that you need to read it. Take a breath and read on:

In “Scary Movie” we spoofed the creepy teen horror genre, in “Date Movie” we took on cliché romantic comedies, “Epic Movie” we parodied bloated blockbusters, “Meet the Spartans” we lampooned the ultra macho “300” and in “Vampires Suck” we skewered the cultural phenomenon “Twilight.” But our new movie will dare spoof the biggest, boldest and most successful movie ever made – James Cameron’s “Avatar.”

With a domestic box office of nearly 700 million dollars and an overseas haul of over 2 billion, it was only a matter time before this behemoth got a good ribbing. And what could possibly be riper for satire? You got half naked blue people plugging their hair into strange flying horses so they can read their thoughts! And nothing in this mega blockbuster is off limits, from its overly simplified message of “big corporations = bad; tree hugging environmentalist = good,” to the broadly drawn characters like the buffed out Colonel who’s in a perpetual ‘roid rage to the very colorful, glowing and… come on, totally stony world of Pandora. And just like “Avatar” our movie will be in eye popping 3-D – making it the very first spoof movie ever in this format. It’s a perfect showcase for our outrageous sight gags, physical comedy and audacious stunts that will make for a hilarious film and uproarious audience experience.

Delusion is a powerful thing in Hollywood, and Friedberg and Seltzer seem to be the most delusional of all. Have they actually seen any of the movies they’ve done? Lord knows I have, due to my obsession with spoof movies, and calling any of them “comedies” would be a stretch. A very big stretch. That is, unless you like dated pop culture references posing as jokes. “hey, is that supposed to be Lady Gaga? HA HA HA THAT’S FUNNY BECAUSE I KNOW WHO THAT IS!” Sigh. Way to let us down God, you could have spared us so easily a couple days ago.

I have no idea when The Biggest Movie of All-Time 3D comes out but when it does, I’m sure you’ll know better than to actually see it. On the other hand, I’ll let you know on opening day because I hate myself.

Is there anyone who thinks Friedberg and Seltzer are amazing at spoofs? Show yourself!
