Frequent Danny Boyle collaborator Alex Garland is one of my favorite writers after penning the best sci-fi film of the last few years with Sunshine. Now he has another project in the same genre Heat Vision reports.

He is currently in negotiations to script the Logan’s Run remake for Warner Bros. We reported a few weeks ago that commercials director Carl Rinsch will make his feature directorial debut with the film, which will draw from the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson moreso than the 1976 film starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett. Check out the synopsis below.

“Run” is set in a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a “runner” and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan is a Sandman who is forced to go on the run.

Alex Garland‘s latest work can be seen this October in Mark Romanek‘s adaption of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel Never Let Me Go starring Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield. The trailer was just released yesterday, which you can check out here.

Are you a fan of Garland? What do you think about him doing more sci-fi?
