Out of all the superhero and comic-book films this summer, Joe Johnston‘s Captain America: The First Avenger seems to be (thankfully) taking itself the least serious. The first trailer exudes a fun throwback charm, and we’ll be getting another full-length trailer before Transformers: Dark of the Moon at the end of the month. But now, we have a hilarious new retro poster.

While I can’t imagine this will be in the film (although there are some rumors it may be in some capacity), and you certainly won’t see it in theaters, this one-sheet was given to film crew members. Coming Soon reports that if you are at the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood this weekend, you may be able to win one. Paola Rivera designed the poster, which is an update on the original Captain America Comics #1 cover. Check out the poster, and the original comic below.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters on July 22nd and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Neal McDonough and Derek Luke.

What do you think of the poster? Have you read the #1 comic?
