Hopefully not the kind of hit that screams “we really want another hit from these two players!” Screen Gems, who’s had beyond a good year perfectly articulated by the $65 million gross of the $8 million John Hughes-esque high school comedy Easy A (not to mention the surprising success of, ahem, Takers), featuring a wonderful Stone playing of a particularly wonderful script from Bert V. Royal. Oh yeah, and Will Gluck put it all together.
Since the success, Gluck’s next comedy, Friends With Benefits, got a very funny trailer, Stone finished starring in the adaptation of the literary dynamo The Help and got cast as the new Gwen Stacy in Spider-man. All this to say, things have been good for the two.
Screen Gems wants the next film, which Gluck is writing, in production by this coming summer, hence the worry that it might be rushed a bit. [Deadline]
Did you see Easy A? What did you think? Is Stone a movie star?
