This Sunday afternoon we’ve got a wide variety of release dates to bring you, and in chronological order we’ll kick off with the next film from Jason Reitman. Following up Young Adult, Paramount have set a limited Christmas Day 2013 release for his drama Labor Day and then expansion throughout the month of January. While it means they’ll be missing out on some prime marking opportunity with the title’s holiday, the studio will likely be showcasing the film on the fall festival circuit. Starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Tobey Maguire, Jacki Weaver, James Van Der Beek and Clark Gregg, the drama follows depressed single mom Adele and her son Henry how offer a wounded, fearsome man a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited.
In other release day news, 20th Century Fox have set two major upcoming projects from their Prometheus duo Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender. First up, following this year’s The Counselor, Scott’s next film has been confirmed as the Moses epic Exodus. Set for December 12th, 2014, there’s been rumors that Christian Bale was circling the main role, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Penned by Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), hopefully we’ll get an update soon. Lastly, the Michael Lesslie-scripted adaptation of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed, starring and produced by Fassbender, has circled in the tentative date of May 22nd, 2015. It’s a prime summer bow, but considering it’s two years away, we wouldn’t be surprised if things get shifted.
Which of the above films are you most looking forward to?
