As the discussion around his most recent film rages on, momentarily unabated, Ridley Scott is off shooting his Moses epic, Exodus, all while (seemingly) in development on the likes of Prometheus and Blade Runner sequels, themselves put in the “maybe” pile alongside any other number of titles one quickly forgets about after their initial announcement — yes, he keeps himself busy. Not that you haven’t heard it before.
But in this transitory phase — one’s still in theaters (though probably not for much longer) and another is chugging along — it is, still, a little surprising that yet another project has entered his line of sight, especially when the title’s nothing you’d exactly expect. According to Deadline, the helmer is nearly set on his Exodus follow-up: an as-of-now-untitled drama centered on the impact concussions have on modern athletes — and, to follow a certain, cited template established by Michael Mann‘s The Insider, chronicle “the role that league owners play in allowing it to happen.” No additional angle has been cited, but one must be mapped out: Scott and his producing partner, Giannina Facio, are contacting “A-list writers” (who’s that? who knows) to help shape something, anything. Count me mildly curious, even as one who felt awfully mixed about the man’s most recent title.
