Few character actors fit more comfortable into a role of authority than Dean Norris. Although he’s been seen as bit parts in major films such as Gattaca, Terminator 2 and Total Recall, he solidified this with his most memorable turn yet as DEA Agent Hank Schrader in AMC’s Breaking Bad. The actor is now set for one of our most-anticipated upcoming dramas, Variety reports.

Coming off his sci-fi blockbuster Prometheus, Ridley Scott is finalizing his cast for the Cormac McCarthy-scripted drama The Counselor. With Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz all set, Norris has joined the project in an undisclosed role. Having read the script, there aren’t any other major roles to fill, so one would have to assume Norris will do what he does best as a supporting member of the law, or perhaps playing a part on the opposite side.

Described as “No Country For Old Men on steroids,” The Counselor follows “a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting sucked down.”  Although production was rumored for this past spring, it’s looking likely things will now gear up later this summer or early fall for a 2013 release. In the meantime, look for Schrader and Walter White to come to a head as Breaking Bad continues its penultimate season throughout the summer.

Are you looking forward to seeing Norris take part in a major Hollywood production?
