Sundance Film Festival season is just around the corner, and the official lineup is a promising showcase of talent from around the world. In anticipation of the festival premiere, the first trailer has arrived for Killing Eve showrunner Emerald Fennell’s directorial debut Promising Young Woman starring Carey Mulligan. Following its debut at Sundance in January, the thriller will open on April 17, 2020, courtesy of Focus Features.

The film follows a young woman named Cassie (Carey Mulligan) who once had a promising future as a medical student until an event in her past upended her life, leading her to concoct a double life in which she entraps men who try to take advantage of women at night. By day, she’s an ordinary cafe associate. Also starring Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Connie Britton, Adam Brody, Jennifer Coolidge, Laverne Cox, Max Greenfield, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chris Lowell, Sam Richardson, Molly Shannon, and Clancy Brown, it looks to be a fresh and stylishly delicious take on the revenge tale.
