Back in April, The Weinstein Company offered the teaser for their Sundance acquired comedy Our Idiot Brother (formerly My Idiot Brother.) At the time, our reviewer Dan Mecca lamented that by focusing only on pithy punchlines, the spot captured none of the good-natured humor the film emitted. Well now the more fleshed out theatrical trailer has hit the web, and thankfully it reads much sweeter than the last go ’round:

Synopsis:

Ned Rochlin (Paul Rudd) is a kindhearted and clueless man who gets himself thrown in jail for “sympathetically” offering some weed to a uniformed police officer. When he is released, his girlfriend kicks him out and forces him to live off the generosity of his three sisters (Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, and Emily Mortimer) and mother, whose stressful, ambitious lives are far from compatible with Ned’s laid-back and sunny approach. The harder Ned tries to spread joy and love, the more trouble he causes.

Our Idiot Brother will hit theaters August 26, 2011.
