Will the cast of Wally Pfister‘s directorial debut outdo Christopher Nolan‘s recent ensembles? As we know, the duo, who are coming off The Dark Knight Rises, are set to re-team for the sci-fi film Transendence with Pfister helming and Nolan (as well as Emma Thomas) teaming as exectuive producers. Up until a few days ago nearly nothing was known regarding the project, but that all changed when casting and story details came in.
And they keep coming, as LA Times reports that Pfister is actually eying Bruce Wayne himself, Christian Bale, to star in the film. No word on yet if Bale has reciprocated the offer and with production looking to begin this winter in Los Angeles, that makes a busy schedule for the Batman star, as he is committed to new films from David. O Russell and Todd Field.
There’s no details on Bale’s possible role, but it’s reported that there are three major leads in the film and we already know Johnny Depp, James McAvoy and Tobey Maguire are being looked at for some, with Noomi Rapace in consideration for another and Christoph Waltz eyeing a supporting role.
As for story details, we’ve only heard this being compared to 2001: A Space Odysseyand Inception as we follow a husband “who creates a computer that develops a malevolent awareness.” With Nolan and Thomas reportedly going to be having a “strong on-set presence” come production time, it would certainly make a welcoming enviroment for Bale, so we’ll have to see how this shakes out.
Would you like to see Bale join the film?
