David Cronenberg Teams Julianne Moore & John Cusack With ‘Cosmopolis’ Duo For ‘Maps to the Stars’

Written by on April 18, 2013

While it will miss its rumored spring start date, we will get to see the next David Cronenberg film soon enough. After the back-to-back unveiling of A Dangerous Method and Cosmopolis, the Canadian-based helmer will once again team with Entertainment One for his next film, Maps to the Stars.

According to press release, we’ve also got the main quartet locked in, as Julianne Moore and John Cusack will be joining the Cosmopolis duo of Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon. The former two stars will be occupying roles that were previously rumored for Rachel Weisz and Viggo Mortensen.

Described as “very acerbic and satirical” by Cronenberg himself, Maps to the Stars is a Bruce Wagner-scripted ghost story which revolves around actors and agents, with a specific focus on “two child actors ruined by Hollywood’s depravity.” Yeah, it sounds like something we’re very much looking forward to and we’ll bring you updates as they arrive. Production kicks off this July in Toronto and Los Angeles for a likely 2014 release.

In other Cusack-related news, the actor has joined the Beach Boys biopic Love & Mercy, according to The Wrap. Directed by Bill Pohlad and scripted by The Messenger‘s Oren Moverman, Cusack is set to play the band’s frontman Brian Wilson in his older years, while Paul Dano will take the role when he was younger.

What do you think of the ensemble Cronenberg has gathered for his next feature? What about Love & Mercy?
