Established in the 1950’s by André Bazin, Joseph-Marie Lo Duca, and Jacques Doniol-Valcroze, France’s Cahiers du cinéma has long been a bastion for quality film criticism. Year after year their rundown of the top films usually ignites a response and we doubt 2013 will be any different.
They’ve now released their list for 2013, which includes one of the highest-grossing films of the year with Gravity (not an uncommon occurrence, considering the inclusion of Toy Story 3 and Super 8 in recent years), as well as Palme d’Or winner Blue is the Warrmest Color and Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln (which was released in France this year). Topping the list is Stranger by the Lake, which we reviewed out of NYFF, followed by Harmony Korine‘s divisive Spring Breakers.
Check out the full list below from @ChrisBeney (via @Cinephiliacs), as well as links to our reviews, where applicable, and trailers for each selection:

Are any of your favorite films of the year included on Cahiers’ top ten? Are any titles undeserving?
