This past year’s Toronto International Film Festival saw the premiere of Beyond the Reach, a new drama which paired Michael Douglas alongside War Horse leading man Jeremy Irvine. Directed by Jean-Baptiste Léonetti, the film follows Madec (Douglas), a very successful businessman – also an excellent hunter and tracker – who goes on a hunting trip in the Mojave Desert with his guide, Ben (Irvine). But when Madec accidentally shoots and kills a man, Ben has to stay quiet or else Madec’s competitors have enough to “destroy” him.

Of course, Ben doesn’t stay quiet and from there Beyond the Reach becomes a riff on Richard Connell’s The Most Dangerous Game. Judging from the trailer, which was recently released, there’s an unexpected somewhat campy B-movie feel to the proceedings. Set for a release this spring from Roadside Attractions (who picked the film up for around $2 million), check out the trailer below.

Beyond the Reach hits theaters, as well as VOD, on April 17th, 2015.
