Luc Besson is a producing/storytelling machine. Next on his queue is a drama titled Lockout. Sony Pictures Entertainment is developing and Maggie Grace (Lost, Taken) is set to star with Guy Pearce (Memento, The Proposition). It will be directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger from a Besson script. [Deadline]

You may think Besson will be going in a completely different direction from his big hit Taken, since this film involves outer space. Think again, as you can check out the plot below.

Guy Pearce is attached to play a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates. Grace’s UTA agents just closed a deal for her to play the president’s daughter.

With Taken being as fun as it was, I have little problem seeing it done in space. Maggie Grace can play the part….because she already did to great lengths in Taken. If it isn’t Liam Neeson rescuing her, the next best man is Guy Pearce.

Lockout beings shooting September 7.
