With last night’s announcement that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Deadwood star Ian McShane has joined Snow White and the Huntsman as a dwarf, we have a few more similar-sized additions to the cast that already includes Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.
THR reports that Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins and Toby Jones have all signed on to the cast, while Eddie Marsan and Stephen Graham (the latter who appeared in Pirates 4 with McShane) are in negotiations.
Don’t expect the same characters as the Disney classic, as McShane plays Caeser, the leader of the dwarves, while Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger) will play a “timid dwarf named Claudius” and Izzard (Cars 2) will be Tiberius, “the biggest and burliest of the crew.”.Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) plays the blind dwarf Constantine.
Directed by Rupert Sanders, the film takes a revisionist twist on the famous fable, Snow White is “a princess who escapes her evil stepmother with the help of a huntsman who was to have killed her but now trains the princess to survive and fight back.”
Snow White and Huntsman begins production this August for a June 1st, 2012 release.
