Last month it was rumored that Julianne Hough and Russell Brand, stars of the upcoming musical film Rock of Ages, would reteam for the directorial debut of Oscar-winning Juno writer Diablo Cody. Deadline reports that the actors have now formally signed on for the drama previously titled Lamb of God. We previously got a few story details, which can been read below.
The story is centered on a woman who “loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith.” Hough is playing the plane crash survivor, who ThePlaylist previously told us is named Lamb, a woman left with “horrific burns” from the crash. Upon her arrival at the city, she becomes friends with “Loray, an African-American craps dealer, and William, a bartender.”
Brand seems like a good match to spit Cody’s dialogue and I’ve heard good things about Hough’s next film, Craig Brewer‘s Footloose redo. We’ll also get another feature film from Cody soon, as she reteamed with Jason Reitman for his upcoming drama Young Adult starring Charlize Theron. Paramount Pictures will release that on December 9th.
What do you think about the cast of Cody’s directorial debut?
