Even though the title for Oscar-winner Kathryn Bigelow‘s latest project is still to be determined, the casting doesn’t seem to be having any problems. EW has informed us that Jennifer Ehle and Nash Edgerton have joined the ensemble for the Bin Laden drama.
With Parks & Rec star Chris Pratt set to head the project, the duo have officially joined the cast which includes, Friday Night Light‘s Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Édgar Ramírez, Mark Strong and Jessica Chastain. Nash will also be joining his brother Joel Edgerton in the film. Mark Boal, who collaborated with Bigelow on The Hurt Locker, is returning to the writing chair, with the film detailing the take down of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden.
As of right now, it is unclear what specific role Ehle will play. She was most recently seen in such films as Contagion and The Ides of March, which have helped her catapulted her career and ultimately helped nab a spot in the highly anticipated return of Bigelow. I thought she was great in Contagion, so I’m really excited to see what she can bring to the table in terms of killing the former leader of al-Qaeda.
Edgerton will play a Navy SEAL in the film, which he will play alongside his brother, who has already signed on for an unspecified role as well. His previous work includes playing stuntman on the various Matrix films and most recent Star Wars prequels, but he also starred and co-wrote the short film Bear (and its prequel Spider), the latter which played at this year’s Sundance Film Festival after opening in Cannes. Judging by his stunt work portfolio, playing a SEAL shouldn’t be too much of a problem for him and could be great exposure for his budding acting career.
The untitled bin Laden project will hit theaters December 19th, 2012.
