With production set to start in short order, casting news is coming down fast on Gary Ross’ much buzzed about adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ bestselling YA novel, The Hunger Games. Just yesterday the roles of Rue and Thresh, the tributes of District 11, were announced with word that Elizabeth Banks is in negotiations to play the pink-haired PR rep, Effie Trinket.

Now THR reports Jack Quaid, the mop-haired son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid is set to make his screen debut with the small but pivotal role of Marvel, while Leven Rambin (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, One Tree Hill) will join the cast as Glimmer. Fans of the book series may remember that these characters are both “Career Tributes” out of District 1, where the Hunger Games are regarded as a honorable opportunity to win fame and fortune, rather than a brutal battlefield where teen contestants are forced to enter a kill-or-be-killed battle to the death. Rambin seems well-suited to the role, and while Quaid is new to acting – despite his film star folks – he looks the part and really just needs to glower and ooze mercilessness effectively.

Expect more Hunger Games tribute news in short order – there are still 9 districts to hear from after all!
