As with any Damon Lindelof project, we expect most of the plot of his upcoming Tomorrowland, the secretive Disney sci-fi film he co-wrote for director Brad Bird, will be kept close to the chest until its late 2014 release. However we recently got a hint at what it may be, but before we get to that, another cast member has joined the ensemble.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, House actor Hugh Laurie has come abord the film, which only previously had George Clooney set to star. Any details regarding his specific role is unknown, but it has been confirmed he will be playing the central villain in the film that has been described in the tone of Steven Spielberg‘s Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
When it comes to the possible plot, earlier this month we got a rundown of the contents found in a secretive briefcase reportedly used as the foundation for the film and now Disney expert Jim Hill may have uncovered some answers. In a detailed post over on his site, he theorizes that this project could be about the real-life 1950s event in which U.S. government asked for Disney’s help in producing a TV show that would reveal the truth about UFOs to the American public. We encourage you to check out all of his findings, but it certainly paints a convincing picture as to what this seemingly bizarre, top-secret project could contain.
Tomorrowland hits theaters on December 19th, 2014.
What do you think of the possible plot? Is Laurie a strong addition?
