The first images from the adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s famous novel On the Road have arrived. The Motorcycle Diaries director Walter Salles helmed the project, which stars Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) as Dean Moriarty, Sam Riley (Control) as Sal Paradise, and Kristen Stewart (Twilight) as Marylou. Not pictured from the cast are Kirsten Dunst, Terrence Howard, Alice Braga, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Steve Buscemi, and Elisabeth Moss. On the Road is a semi-biographical work from Kerouac that follows his spontaneous road trips with friends across 50′s America in the pursuit of self-knowledge and experience. Oscar-nominated writer Jose Rivera, who also worked on the The Motorcycle Diaries, as well as Letters to Juliet, has penned the adaptation for Salles.
The $25 million project is wrapped and will see a release sometime this year.
