Today we’ve got first looks at two Sundance films that see talent quite familiar with the festival returning. First up, David Gordon Green (who was just at Park City last year with his producing effort Compliance) is returning with Prince Avalanche, a drama that stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as “two highway road workers who spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives. The isolated landscape becomes a place of misadventure as the men find themselves at odds with each other and the women they left behind.” After Green’s recent foray into studio comedies, I’m eager to see what he comes up with here on a much lower budget and you can see the first image above.
Then we have the first looks at Very Good Girls, a new dram from Naomi Foner (mother of Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal), which sees Elizabeth Olsen (a staple at the last few fetstivals after breaking out in Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Dakota Fanning teaming for a story set “in the long, half-naked days of a New York summer.” The “two girls are on the brink of becoming women fall for the same guy and find that life isn’t as simple or safe as they had thought.” Check out the image below for the film also starring Boyd Holbrook, Demi Moore, Richard Dreyfuss and Ellen Barkin.
