With her biggest role yet arriving in theaters today with The Hunger Games (which I liked), we’ve got the first look at the next film featuring up-and-coming star Jennifer Lawrence. After breaking out with Winter’s Bone, the actress is starring in her first horror film, which unfortunately seems obligatory these days, in House at the End of the Street. EW has our first image above and more details below.

The still looks oddly grainy, an aesthetic I hope the film doesn’t rely on, and the only thing to go on seems to be that Lawrence will be a terrified victim in Mark Tonderai‘s horror film. The film follows the teenager and her mother (Elisabeth Shue) who move into a new house and, as you can guess, there is something mysterious in the house next door. Max Thieriot (Chloe, My Soul to Take) plays the creepy neighbor, a teen whose family has been murdered. The still above sees Lawrence inside the house, hiding from the evil character.

I’m much more excited for Lawrence’s other role this fall, in David O. Russell‘s The Silver Linings Playbook, but hopefully this one pleases fans of the genre, unlike myself. Check out the filmmaker’s themes for the film below:

“I wanted to talk about how a parent’s love can help us or hinder us in becoming the people we are. It’s very much about a girl who’s becoming a woman, but her mother still feels she can do an audit on her life. The daughter is rebelling against that. She’s the petulant daughter, and [Shue] is the mother who doesn’t understand.”

House at the End of the Street opens on September 21st.
