Sorry Ridley Scott, but a certain indie film from Sundance is far and away our most-anticipated film of the month. We got to check out Benh Zeitlin‘s debut feature Beasts of the Southern Wild at Sundance (full review) and today, the first clip has arrived. It’s a hair-rising look, aided by some wonderful score in a montage sequence between our leads Quvenzhané Wallis and Dwight Henry. Brimming with inventiveness, check out the clip titled “Rise Up So High” below via Yahoo as we look forward to the release soon. If you missed the trailer, see it here.
In a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee, a six-year-old girl exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality. Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions.
Beasts of the Southern Wild arrives on June 27th.
